Music therapist

Graduated from New York University in September 2003 and received MA in Music Therapy. Teachers in the program include some of the best therapists in the field, such as: Clive Robbins ,Kenneth Aigen, Diane Austin, Alan Turry, Lisa Sokolov and others.
Worked at South Beach Psychiatric Center in N.Y as a music therapy intern between September 2002 and June 2003. At the Center, lead sessions with groups and individuals at all mental levels and conditions.
Worked as music therapy field work student at Ft. Washington House Center for the Elderly in N.Y.C between January and June 2001, with groups and individuals who have Alzheimer’s disease and with people suffering from mild retardation.
Worked as music therapy field work student at Nordoff and Robbins Center in N.Y.C between September 2000 and January 2001, with children aged three to thirteen at different levels of development and with diverse conditions.
A member of I.C.E.T: the Israeli Association of Creative & Expressive Therapies.
Taught at Levinsky College as well as Bar Ilan University at the MA program department of music therapy. The course was about the use of the voice as a primary healing tool in music therapy.

Music therapist for people with mental illnesses at the cognitive preparatory in Jerusalem, Association of Public Health.
Participation in the seminar for teachers of SOS Violence Studies ( 2009-2010 )
Music therapist with adolescences at risk in the school for special education Beit Hazayar  in Jerusalem ( 2006-2007 )
Worked as a music therapist with autistic children in the school for special education: Dkalim in Jerusalem between 2004-2007.
Worked as a music therapist with children with special needs at 'Variety' center in Jerusalem between November 2003 and August 2004.

Bachelor's degree ( BFA )  in music Jazz Performance from The New School University, Mannes school of music in Manhattan , USA. ( 2000 )
Ofri Eliaz currently performs in Israel with various musicians. Programs are of Ladino songs as well as Israeli songs. The Ladino program includes the flamenco dancer Meirav Reuven as well as the Sephardic story teller: Matilda Koen Sarano.
In November 2004 released CD of Ladino songs: " Ya salio de la mar" (distributed by N.M.C. Records). The musicians are some of the top players in N.Y.C, such as: Frank London, Steve Gorn, Omar Faruk Tekbilek , Alex Skolnick, John La Barbera , Joe Deninzon, George Mgrdichian ,Emmanuel Mann, Shai Bachar, Benny Koonyevsy and others.

Teaches voice technique.
Lead workshops about the creative use of the voice to different organizations.
Gave performances  of Ladino / Judeo-Spanish songs in New York City at: The Knitting Factory, Makor, The Bitter End , Izzy bar, Sephardic House, Brooklyn Public Library, Brooklyn College and The Center for Jewish History.

Performed with EMI recording artists Alabina, featuring Ishtar and the Los Ninos De Sara.

In 2003 received a grant as an "Excellent Artist" from the Ministry of Absorption.
Participated in June 2004 in the Festiladino contest at the Jerusalem Theater in Jerusalem. The event took place as part of the annual Israel Festival.
Teached voice technique at the conservatory Yad Charif between 2004 and 2005.
Studied jazz and popular music at the Rimon School of Music at Ramat Hasharon. Teachers include: Gili Dor, Ilan Mochiach, Amikam Kimelman, and others.
Studies Radio Communication at the academy " Hed" in Yahud under the direction of Dori Ben Zeev. Expertise in writing, editing , and a radio broadcaster. Teachers include: Moshe Timor and Danny Karpel ( 1996 )
During army service toured Israel as a singer, accompanied by a guitarist. The musical director was Gili Dor.
Graduated from the High School for Arts in Jerusalem, majoring in theater.
Plays guitar, piano and a recorder.
